Mom’s Birthday

I made dinner for my Mom’s birthday on Tuesday night and I really surprised myself.

I Heart Tori

I refreshed my ipod today, and for some reason got like 20 Tori Amos songs in a row. I listened to them on the bus on my way home from work. It made me appreciate how much I love her and how long I have been listening to her music. I think it’s been about 15 years since I bought her first album and wore it out. I have seen her live twice, once when I was 20 and again when I was 30, both times I felt lucky to be there and like I had a stronger sense of self when I left the show.Tori is 100% good.

Training vs. Giggling

I am in the middle of a three-day training class for work. Even though I am interested in the subject, it’s a brutal experience. We sit in a windowless room for eight hours and talk about code.

This afternoon during a particularly dry portion of the lecture, I get an email on my workstation from my co-worker who is sitting in back of the room. I emailed back quoting one of the instructor’s more annoying catch phrases. I made myself laugh out loud. It’s not like something happened that made me laugh – I was laughing at my own email reply.

A new low in my life-long battle against giggling.

I realize that I have lived in this house for a year and a half and have never taken any photos at all. So I took a bunch today – it was beautiful and sunny.
It’s a much older house than I have ever lived in before.

I like living in the ‘older’ part of town – it’s way prettier and the neighborhood’s population is younger – I know so many people on my street from high school or my secret club.

I went to the store yesterday and bought a ton of daisies to pot and put on our front porch. “They are by far the friendliest flower.” I think Meg Ryan said that in You’ve Got Mail, and I wholeheartedly agree.
