One more 360 from Alexandria, Egypt

~ The Darjeeling Limited ~

Great.  Great.  Great.  This movie goes straight to my top 10 list. Owen Wilson is so comical about being serious, or vice versa.  The dialog is great – it’s a certain way you talk to people that you know better than anybody in the world that gets captured in this script.  India is it’s own character, and it’s wonderful.  Great.  Great.  Great.

360 at the Red Pyramid

Another 360 from my trip to Egypt 6 months ago. This was taken at the Red Pyramid in Dashur.  I was halfway up the stairs to the entrance of the pyramid when I looked around and saw the desert stretched out in all directions – I decided to bust out the camera.

360 Alexandria, Egypt

Another lost 360 from my camera. This is Alexandria – a wild city. Please notice my cousin Robin waving to you.

~whirling dervish~

I took this video at a mosque in Cairo near Khan al-Khalili, the dancing and music was great! I was spellbound for about an hour, which is actually the desired effect.

360 Amsterdam

So…it’s only 11 days until I leave for Thailand, and I am just cleaning out my camera from my last trip. I will be posting some fun 360’s for the next few days.

mission accomplished: perfect vintage frames

Fabulous! I feel like I have hit the mother-load of cool, cat-eye frames. My cousin, who knows everything about shopping and style, read of my plight to find the vintage cat-eyes and referred me to Etsy.com. I searched on vintage frames and found the perfect pair. They are so inexpensive that I may buy a couple pair. I can’t wait for them to arrive so I can take them down to my eyeglass shop and have them fitted, and equipped with my prescription.

I feel like my cousin Diane. She got a great pair of glasses a few years back, and she would regularly say that she thought people were always looking at her glasses. I feel that the same thing will happen to me with my new frames, no one will be able to resist checking them out.

(These glasses below are not the ones I bought – I will not be able to unveil them until they are ready,  you understand.)

Mission: must find vintage/vintage-style frames

jgll

I am a covet-er of many things – mostly cool eyeglass frames. Janeane Garofalo and Lisa Loeb always have the coolest frames. I have started searching online for vintage stuff, or new vintage-style frames and there isn’t much out there right now. Everything is being designed in that boxy, square way. I don’t have anything against those square frames, but they are taking over every shop and collection I look through. If anyone has any interesting info – I would love to hear it.  I have heard that the bigger flea markets in NY, like Hell’s Kitchen, are a good place to find vintage frames, too.

Here are some promising leads I have found so far:

I did it! (Designed my own handbag, that is.)

I went to a party about a week ago where the guests could design and buy their own handbags. I found their web site ahead of time and found this cool design feature. I am addicted to creating different bags on this online tool. Check it out, this is the bag I ordered:

Walk for Fidelco 2008

I am volunteering again this year for the Walk for Fidelco. I used to work for Fidelco, and really grew to love the cause and everyone there. It’s a great organization – some people are into it for the dogs – and some are more interested in helping the blind community – but either way the Walk is a great thing to do in order to feel like you’re helping someone and being part of the ‘force for good.’

This year it’s being held at my school, there are really beautiful walking trails that curl through pine forests that seem to be 1,000 years old. Go to the website if you want to find out more.
