My Mardigan

It took me months to be able to post this. My family’s dog, Mardigan, died very suddenly April 5, 2008.

We picked him out of a litter of puppies when he was 8 weeks old. He was the chubbiest one and seemed to have the sweetest disposition. I loved him immediately. We had to wait 4 weeks to pick him up from his home and during that time people would ask me about the new puppy, to which I would always respond “Don’t even talk to me about it – I can’t wait a minute more to go get him.”

When we brought him home, we had a puppy party – friends and family came from all around. He was a hit! He was kind and wild and very unpredictable. My brother and I chose his name from the movie character “Mad Mardigan” who was also good-hearted, wild and a little unpredictable.

Mardi grew up to be a BIG dog. (We should have know from the size of his paws.) He was very fond of jumping up to greet people – no matter how much we scolded him for it, I could always tell when he was about to jump – he just couldn’t resist.

Among his nick names: Mardi, Mart, Mad Malichki, Mardi Gras (when he got chubby from time to time), Mortikah, Sweet Belly Boy and Senor Pantalones.

I miss him everyday. If you know a good dog like Mardi – please give them some extra time, and some love from me.
